Called the "Mother Road", classic Route 66 still actively spans a lot of miles through Oklahoma, and the sights to be seen are often lovely and sometimes mysterious but always interesting. This is the shell of an old rock gas station northeast of Arcadia. It is believed to have been a Conoco Station in the 1920's and I found some people who said in the 1930's more than one gangster topped their tank at the old pumps and pulled a cold one from the soda chest out front.
